Inclusion

‘Inclusion’ in education is that all students are given equal opportunities to education and learning and that is what our school aims for. A wide range of pupils have special educational needs, some of whom also have disabilities. Our lessons are planned in such a way to ensure that every pupil achieves to the best of his / her potential and beyond. With the right teaching that recognizes their individual needs, many such pupils may have little need for additional resources beyond the aids which they use as part of their daily life. Potential areas of difficulty are identified and addressed at the outset of work.

Teachers also consider the needs of pupils whose first language is not English, and the lessons are tailored accordingly to suit them. Progress is monitored by considering the pupil’s age, length of time in the country residing and their ability in other languages provided. Teachers plan teaching strategies to help these pupils develop their English Language skills and provide support in taking part in all subjects.

On our campus, the feeling of being included is not just limited to physical or cognitive disabilities but includes a range of qualities such as language, culture, gender, and other forms of human differences. We ensure that no one is left behind, on the contrary everyone is made to feel valued and celebrated.
